One of the main reasons for the creation of more local government in Nigeria is to make them more responsive to people's needs. Local governments are the closest level of government to the people and are responsible for providing basic services and infrastructure at the grassroots level. By creating more local governments, the Nigerian government aims to bring governance and development closer to the people and to ensure that local needs and priorities are addressed. This is expected to improve service delivery, enhance community participation in governance, and promote grassroots development. In addition, the creation of more local governments is intended to deepen Nigeria's federal system by establishing local government as the third tier of government after the federal and state levels. This is in line with Nigeria's federal structure, which allows for the decentralization of power and resources to the various levels of government. Therefore, the creation of more local governments is expected to promote a more participatory and inclusive system of governance in Nigeria, where the needs and voices of local communities are taken into account in decision-making and development planning.
