(a) When using epoxy resin adhesive, two suitable items of PPE are:

• Disposable gloves or protective gloves [1] - Epoxy resin is a skin irritant and sensitiser. Direct contact can cause dermatitis or allergic reactions, so gloves provide a barrier between the adhesive and the skin.
• Safety goggles or eye protection [1] - Splashes of uncured epoxy or its hardener can cause serious eye irritation or chemical burns. Goggles prevent accidental contact with the eyes.

An apron or protective clothing is also acceptable, as it prevents the adhesive from staining or damaging the user's clothes and protects the skin on the torso and legs.

(b) Epoxy resin releases fumes and vapours during use, particularly from the hardener component [1]. These fumes can be harmful if inhaled, causing symptoms such as dizziness, headaches, or respiratory irritation. Good ventilation ensures that fresh air circulates through the workshop, diluting and removing the harmful vapours so that air quality remains safe for the user and others in the room [1].
