Integration

Overview

Integration is the reverse of differentiation: given a gradient function, it recovers the original function. It is one half of calculus, and it is the tool for finding areas and totals from rates.

In this lesson you will understand integration as the reverse process of differentiation and integrate sums of powers of x and standard functions, remembering the constant of integration.

Objectives

  1. Understand integration as the reverse process of differentiation.
  2. Integrate sums of terms in powers of x, and functions of the form (ax + b) to the power n (excluding -1), sin(ax + b), cos(ax + b) and e to the power (ax + b).
