Why Quality Is Important And How Quality Production Might Be Achieved:

Overview

One faulty product can lose a customer for life and, through word of mouth, lose many more. Quality is about giving customers a product or service that is fit for purpose and free of faults, and businesses use different systems to make sure they deliver it every time.

This lesson explains what quality means and why it matters, and compares quality control with quality assurance, including Total Quality Management. By the end you will be able to recommend how a business could achieve and maintain quality.

Objectives

  1. What quality means and why it is important for all businesses
  2. The concept of quality control and how businesses implement quality control
  3. The concept of quality assurance and how this can be implemented

Lesson Note

Quality protects a firm's reputation, builds brand loyalty and avoids the cost of replacing faulty goods or repeating poor services. Poor quality loses customers and raises costs. Examiners ask you to compare quality methods and judge which suits a business.
