Money

Overview

Money calculations are the most everyday mathematics of all: working out a bill, a wage, a profit, or how much foreign currency you get for your own. The arithmetic is familiar, but accuracy with decimals and exchange rates is what turns a sensible method into the right answer.

In this lesson you will calculate confidently with money and convert from one currency to another using an exchange rate. These skills connect directly to percentages, ratio and rates.

Objectives

  1. Calculate with money.
  2. Convert from one currency to another.

Lesson Note

Money questions reward careful, well-presented arithmetic: two decimal places, correct units, and a sensible final check. They also set up the percentage and interest work used throughout finance.
