Function Notation

Overview

A function is a rule that assigns each input to exactly one output. Function notation lets you describe that rule precisely, evaluate it for any value, and combine or reverse functions in a single compact expression. This topic underpins coordinate geometry, calculus readiness and many Higher-tier exam questions.

You will learn to write functions in both f(x) and mapping notations, identify the domain and range of a function, build composite functions by feeding one function into another, and find the algebraic inverse that reverses a function's effect.
