Overview
Email feels effortless: type, click send, done. Yet behind that simple act sits a web of rules about what you may write, who can see the addresses, how to attach a file safely and how to behave so you do not offend or endanger anyone. Used well, email is fast, cheap and leaves a record; used carelessly, it can leak private addresses, spread malware or land an employee in trouble.
In this lesson you will learn the constraints on email, the meaning of acceptable language and netiquette, why employers publish email guidelines, and the practical tools: email groups, carbon copy and blind carbon copy, forwarding and attachments. You will also learn what spam is, the problems it causes and how to reduce it. These are the everyday communication skills Cambridge expects you to explain and apply.
