Create And Solve Linear Equations

Overview

An equation is a balance: whatever you do to one side, you must do to the other. Solving a linear equation means peeling away operations one at a time until the unknown stands alone. It is one of the most powerful moves in mathematics, turning a worded puzzle into a single clear answer.

In this lesson you will create linear equations from words and solve equations in one unknown, including those with brackets and fractions. The guiding rule never changes: keep the equation balanced by doing the same thing to both sides, and you will always reach the solution.
