Input And Output Devices
Overview
A computer is useless on its own: it needs a way to take data in and a way to give results out. Tap a screen, scan a barcode, speak into a microphone, and a stream of data flows into the machine; the processed result then comes back out through a screen, a printer or a speaker. This lesson is about those two halves of the conversation between you and the computer.
You will learn what input and output devices are and why each is needed, meet a wide range of common examples, and then go deeper into sensors, a special kind of input device that captures data from the physical world. By the end you should be able to choose the most suitable device, and the most suitable sensor, for any given situation and explain your choice.
