Overview

No measurement is perfectly precise. A length recorded as 5.3 cm might really be anywhere between 5.25 cm and 5.35 cm. Understanding how rounding affects accuracy, and how errors compound through calculations, is essential for both the exam and real-world problem solving.

This topic covers rounding to any degree of accuracy, identifying upper and lower bounds, and using estimation to check whether an answer is reasonable. Higher-tier students also learn to combine bounds through arithmetic operations.
