Vector Notation

Overview

A vector describes a movement: how far and in which direction. Writing it as a directed line segment, such as \(\overrightarrow{AB}\), or as a column of components, gives a precise, calculable way to handle displacement and direction together.

In this lesson you will use vector notation, including the directed line segment \(\overrightarrow{AB}\) and column (component) form, and see how the two notations describe the same movement.
