Exact Trigonometric Values
Overview
For a few special angles, the sine, cosine and tangent have exact values you can write down without a calculator. Knowing them lets you give exact (surd) answers and check calculator work, and they come straight from two special triangles.
In this lesson (Extended tier) you will learn the exact values of sin and cos for 0, 30, 45, 60 and 90 degrees, and tan for 0, 30, 45 and 60 degrees.
Objectives
- Know the exact values of: 1 sin x and cos x for x = 0°, 30°, 45°, 60° and 90°. 2 tan x for x = 0°, 30°, 45° and 60°.
