Overview

Two lines can run side by side forever or cross at a perfect right angle, and their slopes tell you which. A single quick comparison of slopes settles whether lines are parallel, perpendicular or neither.

In this lesson you will use the slope to recognize and create parallel and perpendicular lines: parallel lines share a slope, and perpendicular slopes are negative reciprocals of each other.
