Manage Files Effectively
Overview
Saving a file is easy; finding it again six weeks later is the real skill. Good file management is about choosing sensible names, organising work into a tidy folder structure, and saving in the right format so that the next person, or the next program, can open it. In the practical exams this is not optional polish: marks depend on locating, saving and exporting files correctly.
In this lesson you will learn the difference between a file and a folder, how to plan a hierarchical folder structure, how to name files meaningfully with version control, and how to save and export work. You will study the generic file formats Cambridge expects you to know, from .csv and .txt to .jpg, .png, .pdf and .mp4, learning what each one is for and why generic formats matter at all.
