Kinetic Particle Model Of Matter

Overview

Ice, water and steam are all the same substance, yet they behave completely differently: one holds its shape, one flows, one fills the whole room. The difference is not in the particles themselves but in how they are arranged and how they move. The kinetic particle model explains every solid, liquid and gas with one simple picture.

In this lesson you will learn the distinguishing properties of solids, liquids and gases in terms of the arrangement, spacing and motion of their particles, and you will learn the names of the changes of state that carry a substance from one to another, such as melting, boiling, condensation and solidification.

Objectives
