Graphs And Charts
Overview
A spreadsheet full of numbers tells the truth but hides the story. Turn those numbers into the right chart and the story jumps out: which product sells most, how sales have climbed through the year, what share of the budget each department takes. The skill that earns marks is not drawing a chart, the software does that, but choosing the chart that fits the data and labelling it so a reader understands it without asking a single question.
In this lesson you will learn to match the data to the chart: a bar or column chart to compare separate things, a line graph for a trend over time, a pie chart for parts of a whole, and a scatter graph for a relationship between two variables. You will learn to select contiguous and non-contiguous data, add every label an examiner expects, plot a second data series on a second axis, and format values and scales so the finished chart is clear, accurate and professional.
