Stellar Evolution
Overview
Stars are not all the same colour, and the difference is not decoration. A star's colour is a direct reading of how hot its surface is, which makes the night sky a temperature map that anybody can learn to read.
This lesson covers how stars are classified by colour, what that colour tells you about surface temperature, and the life story of a star like our Sun: from a cloud of gas and dust to a stable main sequence star, then a red giant, and finally a white dwarf.
