Introduction

This report gives an account of the violent demonstration that took place in the school on Tuesday, 7 July, 2026, in which several school properties were damaged. It sets out the causes of the demonstration and recommends measures to prevent a recurrence.

Account of the Incident

At about noon, a large group of students gathered in the assembly ground chanting angrily. Within a short while the protest turned violent. Louvre blades and classroom windows were smashed, chairs and desks were broken, and the door of the tuck shop was forced open. Order was restored only after the intervention of the staff and the timely arrival of the school security team.

Causes of the Demonstration

• Poor feeding in the dining hall, as boarders complained of small and badly prepared meals despite the fees paid.
• The prolonged lack of water and electricity in the hostels, which made daily life very uncomfortable.
• A rumour that the mid-term break had been cancelled, which spread quickly because students had no proper channel through which to seek clarification.

Recommendations

• The catering and hostel facilities should be improved, and the water and electricity supply restored without delay.
• A students' welfare committee should be set up so that grievances can be heard and settled before they boil over.
• Regular meetings between the management and the student leaders should be held, and official announcements made promptly to stop the spread of false rumours.
• Those who led the destruction should be identified and disciplined to serve as a deterrent to others.

Conclusion

The demonstration arose from genuine grievances worsened by poor communication. If the recommendations above are adopted, I am confident that such an unfortunate incident will not happen again.
