Jesus healed the only son of the widow of Nain because He had compassion on her. When Jesus saw the widow weeping as they carried her dead son out of the town, He was moved with compassion for her and said, "Do not weep." Jesus then approached the bier and touched it, and said to the dead man, "Young man, I say to you, arise." The man sat up and began to speak, and Jesus presented him to his mother. The people who witnessed this were amazed and glorified God, recognizing that a great prophet had arisen among them.
