The Mid-Western Region in Nigeria was created in 1963.
This region was formed by the then federal government of Nigeria, as a way to divide the country into smaller administrative units for easier governance and development. The Mid-Western Region consisted of the present-day Edo and Delta States.
In 1976, the Mid-Western Region was dissolved and split into two states: Bendel State and Rivers State. Today, Edo and Delta are separate states in Nigeria.
