Trypanosomiasis, also known as African sleeping sickness, is a disease that is associated with the tsetse fly.
The tsetse fly is a blood-sucking insect found in sub-Saharan Africa that can transmit the protozoan parasite Trypanosoma brucei through its bite. When the parasite enters the bloodstream, it causes a variety of symptoms, including fever, headache, joint pain, and fatigue. As the disease progresses, it can also affect the nervous system and lead to sleep disturbances, confusion, and ultimately coma if left untreated.
Cockroaches, mosquitoes, and houseflies are not associated with trypanosomiasis, although they can transmit other diseases to humans.
