WAN stands for Wide Area Network.
A network is a collection of devices (like computers, printers, and servers) that are connected together to communicate and share resources. A WAN is a type of network that covers a large geographic area, such as a city, a country, or even the whole world.
Unlike a Local Area Network (LAN), which is limited to a small area like a home or office building, a WAN connects devices over a larger distance using a variety of technologies such as telephone lines, fiber optic cables, and satellite links.
WANs are used by organizations to connect their different offices and branches in different locations, and to provide access to the internet or cloud-based services. For example, a company with offices in New York and London might use a WAN to connect the two locations and allow employees to share data and resources.
