Dear Ada,

How are you doing in your new school? I hope your studies are going on well and that your family is in good health. I have been longing to write to you ever since my class returned from a most memorable excursion, and I am eager to share with you the valuable lessons I learnt from it.

Last week our school took us on a study tour to a large farm settlement and a nearby factory. Believe me, Ada, I learnt more in those two days than I sometimes learn in a whole term. The first lesson I carried home is the dignity of labour. Watching the farmers and factory workers toil cheerfully, I realised that no honest work is beneath anyone and that real wealth is earned through patient effort.

Secondly, I learnt the value of teamwork. On the assembly line, each worker did a small task, yet the smooth cooperation of everyone produced finished goods with amazing speed. It taught me that great things are achieved when people work together rather than alone.

The excursion also opened my eyes to the practical side of what we study in class. The chemistry and biology that once seemed dull suddenly came alive as I saw them at work in fertilisers, crops and machines. I now understand why our teachers insist that education must be linked to real life.

Above all, the trip taught me the importance of discipline and time. Everything at the factory ran by the clock, and the slightest lateness disrupted the whole process. I have resolved, from now on, to guard my time jealously and to be more orderly in all that I do.
