Uthman b. Affan was born to the family of Banu Umayyah. Banu Umayyah was one of the clans of the Quraysh tribe in Mecca. Uthman b. Affan was a close companion of the Prophet Muhammad and became the third caliph of the Muslim community after the death of the Prophet.
