Component 1: Portfolio

Akopọ

Component 1 is the coursework portfolio - your sustained body of work produced across the full duration of the IGCSE course. It is worth 60% of the total mark and is the main vehicle through which all four assessment objectives are evidenced. Unlike the Externally Set Assignment, which is set by Cambridge, the Portfolio begins with your own choice of starting point. That freedom is also the challenge: without a clear strategy for building a coherent body of work over an extended period, the Portfolio can become a collection of disconnected exercises rather than a project that grows.

This note explains how to choose and develop a starting point, how to structure the portfolio across the course, what a strong submission includes, and how the work is assessed.

Awọn Afojusun

  1. Research, develop and present a portfolio that demonstrates how ideas have been explored and developed over the duration of the course.
  2. Show how the four assessment objectives have been met through the body of work selected.

Akọ̀wé Ẹ̀kọ́

Component 1 requires you to 'research, develop and present a portfolio that demonstrates how ideas have been explored and developed over the duration of the course' and to 'show how the four assessment objectives have been met through the body of work selected'.
