Writing For Digital And Source-based Tasks

Akopọ

Question 8 is the strangest and most valuable question on your paper, because it is the only one where reading and writing are marked inside the same answer. Two texts you met an hour earlier in Section A become the raw material for something new: a website contribution, an article, a speech or a letter, aimed at an audience neither source was written for. Nothing you produce there is invented, and nothing you produce there may be copied.

This note teaches the move that sits between those two prohibitions. You will learn how to harvest a source for what your reader needs rather than for what is interesting, how to make one argument out of two texts that were not talking to each other, how to attribute in your own voice, and how a contribution to a website differs from everything else you will write in this examination.

Awọn Afojusun

  1. Write contributions to a website
  2. Respond to source material by writing for a given audience, form or purpose

Akọ̀wé Ẹ̀kọ́

Everywhere else in this qualification, reading and writing are separate transactions. Section A gives you two unseen extracts and asks you to understand and analyse them. Section C gives you a blank page and a choice of three writing tasks. Section B, question 8, does something neither of them does: it hands you a writing task whose content has to come out of the reading, and then marks both halves together.
