Plan The Action

Akopọ

Good research and a clear-eyed view of the different opinions involved still leave you a long way from actually doing anything. 'We should collect food for the food bank' is an intention, not a plan. A plan says who is targeted, what success looks like, who does what, and what happens when something goes wrong, because something always does.

This lesson gives you a structure for turning an intention into a plan: setting a target and criteria for success, sequencing the steps realistically against the time and resources you actually have, assigning roles, and building in contingencies for the problems you can already predict. The running example is a three-week school food bank collection.

Awọn Afojusun

  1. Identify who the action will target, setting goals for the proposed activity and identify criteria for judging success
  2. Consider possible methods and approaches to use during the activity to form a clear plan of action, taking account of the time and resources available
  3. Decide roles and tasks, anticipating any possible difficulties and how to overcome them; establish a simple system for recording decision making and progress

Akọ̀wé Ẹ̀kọ́

The specification's first planning step is to identify who the action will target, set goals for the activity, and identify criteria for judging success. Skipping this and jumping straight to logistics is one of the most common planning mistakes: a detailed schedule built around a vague goal produces a busy project that cannot later say whether it actually worked.
