No one can afford to crash a real aircraft to find out whether a new wing design is safe, and no weather service can wait a week to see what tomorrow's storm actually does before warning people about it. Computers solve both problems the same way: by building a simplified, working copy of the real system inside software and running that copy instead of the real thing.
In this lesson you will learn the input-process-output model that describes how every computer system, however complex, transforms data, and you will explore the three families of computational model named on the specification, sequential, parallel and multi-agent, along with why models are used and where they can mislead.
