A patient group scattered across nine countries compares symptoms of a disease so rare that none of them has ever met another sufferer in person. Communities used to be the people you could walk to. Increasingly they are the people you can reach.
This lesson looks at how communications technology holds communities together across borders, at the sharply divided views on what artificial intelligence, bionics and remote healthcare are doing to community life, and at a new class of threats, identity theft, malicious software and attacks on essential services, that arrive from outside a country's jurisdiction and are extremely difficult to answer.
