Globalisation

Muhtasari

The phone in your pocket may be designed in one country, built from parts made in a dozen others, and sold everywhere at once. That is globalisation: the growing flow of goods, money, people, ideas and culture across borders until economies and societies become deeply connected. It can spread wealth, technology and opportunity, and it can also spread job losses, pollution and a sameness that crowds out local ways of life. In Global Perspectives you are not asked to memorise a definition; you are asked to weigh how this looks to a person, to a country and to the whole world, to test the evidence on each side, and to reason toward fair, workable action.

This note shows you how. You will meet the core facts stated with their sources and years, a clear map of the winners and the losers, the three perspectives set side by side, the big debates laid out as argument and counter-argument so you stay balanced, and report and team-project ideas you could really use. The worked examples model the skills the exam rewards: spotting a perspective, evaluating a claim, framing a sharp question and building a line of reasoning.

Malengo

  1. Explain why globalisation is an issue of global significance and describe its main causes and consequences.
  2. Compare personal, local/national and global perspectives on globalisation, with empathy and supporting evidence.
  3. Evaluate evidence, sources and arguments relating to globalisation, distinguishing fact, opinion, bias and vested interest.
  4. Develop a line of reasoning toward possible evidence-based courses of action on globalisation, and suggest report and team-project angles.

Maelezo ya Somo

Globalisation matters to Global Perspectives because it is the process that ties almost every other global topic together. Trade, migration, climate, culture, technology and inequality all flow through the same web of connections. It is global by definition: no single country controls it, decisions made by a company or a government in one place shape lives on the other side of the world, and the benefits and harms fall unevenly. That makes it rich ground for a GP report or team project, because almost every angle involves more than one perspective and a genuine debate about who gains and who loses.
