Music, film, design, theatre and the visual arts shape daily life everywhere, yet they are often the first thing cut when budgets are tight. That tension, between the arts as priceless culture and the arts as a cost to be justified, runs through almost every debate about their place in society.
In this lesson you will learn to think about the arts the Global Perspectives way. You will weigh why the arts matter worldwide, set the personal, national and global perspectives side by side, balance the arguments for and against public funding, and judge realistic courses of action. By the end you will be able to frame a sharp report question on the arts and back it with current, reliable evidence.
