Degree Of Accuracy
Muhtasari
No measurement is perfectly precise. A length recorded as 5.3 cm might really be anywhere between 5.25 cm and 5.35 cm. Understanding how rounding affects accuracy, and how errors compound through calculations, is essential for both the exam and real-world problem solving.
This topic covers rounding to any degree of accuracy, identifying upper and lower bounds, and using estimation to check whether an answer is reasonable. Higher-tier students also learn to combine bounds through arithmetic operations.
Malengo
- Round integers to a given power of 10
- Round to a given number of significant figures or decimal places
- Identify upper and lower bounds where values are given to a degree of accuracy
- Use estimation to evaluate approximations to numerical calculations
- [Higher] Solve problems using upper and lower bounds where values are given to a degree of accuracy
