Overzicht
Most people now manage their money without ever entering a bank. Cash comes out of a machine in the wall at midnight, a salary appears in an account on payday, a tap of a card pays for lunch, and a phone moves money across the world in seconds. Behind all of this is ICT: automatic teller machines, electronic funds transfer, chip and PIN cards and internet banking have completely changed how banking works.
This lesson explains how these banking technologies operate, what checks happen behind the scenes, and how money moves between accounts without any cash actually being carried. You will compare the methods fairly, weighing speed, security, convenience and cost, which is exactly the balanced judgement Cambridge expects when it asks about the characteristics, uses, advantages and disadvantages of banking applications.
