Commerce exists because producers and consumers rarely meet face to face. Between a factory floor and a shopping basket sits an entire network of buying decisions, distribution channels, and cost trade-offs that keep goods flowing across cities and continents.
In this lesson you will explore the different sources of buying, the role of intermediaries such as wholesalers and distributors, why firms outsource production, and the hidden costs on both sides of every commercial transaction. These ideas underpin the whole Commerce specification and appear in virtually every exam paper.
