Overzicht
Every other area of study in this endorsement gives you a surface. Multi-media gives you a surface and a clock. Once work unfolds over time, you are no longer only deciding what things look like but when they arrive, how long they stay, what the viewer hears while they are there, and what the silence just before them was for. Time is a material, and it is the one students most often forget to design.
This note covers combining moving image, sound and graphics into a single timed piece: storyboards and animatics, tracks and keyframes, the timing and spacing that make a movement feel weighted, type that has to be readable in the seconds it is on screen, sound that carries half the meaning, and the awkward modern reality that most of your audience will watch with the sound off. You will study title sequences and hand-made film that still set the standard.
