Function Notation
Overzicht
A function is a rule that assigns each input to exactly one output. Function notation lets you describe that rule precisely, evaluate it for any value, and combine or reverse functions in a single compact expression. This topic underpins coordinate geometry, calculus readiness and many Higher-tier exam questions.
You will learn to write functions in both f(x) and mapping notations, identify the domain and range of a function, build composite functions by feeding one function into another, and find the algebraic inverse that reverses a function's effect.
Doelstellingen
- [Higher] Understand the concept that a function is a mapping between elements of two sets
- [Higher] Use function notations of the form f(x) = ... and f : x -> ...
- [Higher] Understand the terms 'domain' and 'range' and which values may need to be excluded from a domain
- [Higher] Understand and find the composite function fg and the inverse function f^-1

Lesevaluatie
