Impact Of The Internet On Organisations

Overzicht

The internet has reshaped how organisations operate, compete, and grow. From a local shop selling to customers on the other side of the world to a multinational hiring talent without relocating them, connectivity has opened doors that were firmly closed just a few decades ago.

This lesson explores the positive impacts of the internet on organisations, including improved communication, access to global markets, and smarter use of data. It also examines the risks that come with being online, from security breaches to intense competition that has already transformed entire industries.

Doelstellingen

  1. Understand positive impacts: improved communication, access to global markets and workforce, changes in the way information is managed and used
  2. Understand negative impacts: security issues, risk of hacking, greater competition

Lesnotitie

A generation ago, most businesses served a local customer base, advertised in print, and stored records in filing cabinets. Today, even a one-person start-up can reach customers worldwide, hire freelancers across continents, and analyse purchasing trends in real time. The internet has not simply added a new tool to the business toolkit: it has rewritten the rules of how organisations function. Understanding both the opportunities and the dangers is central to the Edexcel ICT specification.
