Every second, the heart pushes blood through a closed network of vessels that reaches almost every cell in the body, carrying oxygen, nutrients, hormones, waste and the immune system's front line all at once, in the same fluid. This topic takes blood apart component by component, follows it through the exact chambers and vessels of the heart, and compares the three vessel types built to do very different jobs along the way.
You need precise structure-to-function reasoning here: why an artery is built the way it is, which vessel connects to which heart chamber, why the left ventricle is thicker than the right, and how ABO blood groups make transfusion a matter of matching antigens rather than simply topping up volume.

- Know the general plan of the circulatory system to include the blood vessels to and from the heart, the lungs, the liver and the kidneys
- Know the structure of the heart and how it functions
