Composite Functions

Functions are like machines, and machines can be chained together. Feed a number into one function, then take its output and feed it straight into a second function. The combined effect is a composite function. This is how mathematics builds complicated operations out of simple ones, one stage at a time.
In this lesson you will learn the notation for composing functions, why the order in which you apply them usually matters, and how to work out the rule for a composite. A single warning runs through the whole topic: \(fg\) and \(gf\) are almost never the same, so reading the order correctly is everything.
