Cutting, Shaping And Forming

Once a graphic product is marked out, it has to be turned into its final shape: paper, card and board must be cut, scored, creased and folded, and sometimes die-cut in their thousands. Each of these operations has its own tools and its own rules, and choosing the right method for the material and the quantity is what gives a clean edge, a sharp fold and a package that assembles first time.

This note covers cutting, shaping and forming of paper, card and board using the appropriate hand tools, power tools, machinery and computer aided manufacture (CAM).
