Create A Web Page

Gbogbo ọrọ náà

The content layer of a web page is written in HTML, and building it is a bit like assembling a document from labelled building blocks. Every heading, paragraph, list, table, image and link is wrapped in tags that tell the browser what each piece is. Get the structure right and the browser knows exactly how to organise your page, search engines can read it, and your styling later has clean elements to work with.

In this lesson you will learn the skeleton every page shares, the difference between the head and body sections, and the tags for headings, paragraphs, lists, tables, images and hyperlinks. You will meet metatags that tell the browser and search engines about the page, bookmarks and anchors for jumping around, and the important rule about using relative rather than absolute file paths for local links.

  3. The use of HTML in the content layer.
  4. Purpose of the head and body sections of a web page The reason tables are used to structure elements within a web page Function of metatags including to define: the charset, keywords for search engines, the author of the web page, a description of the web page, the viewport (to make your web page display on all devices) Function of a hyperlink Concept of a bookmark including methods of creating a bookmark within a web page Function of an anchor Relative file path and absolute file path including the reason absolute file paths must not be used for hyperlinks to locally saved web pages/objects.

Akọmọ Ojú-ẹkọ

HTML is the foundation the whole page rests on. Clean, correct structure is what lets the browser display the page properly, lets search engines list it, and gives your CSS sensible elements to style. In the practical papers you create the content layer to a precise specification, so knowing the right tag for each job, and the rules around paths and metatags, is exactly what earns the marks.
