That is the whole difficulty and the whole opportunity: 45 marks, exactly half the paper, awarded for a piece of writing that did not exist when you sat down.
This note covers two of the six transactional forms the specification names: the article for a magazine or newspaper, and the review. They share an engine, which is a point of view, and they differ in what they owe the reader. You will learn how to find an angle in ninety seconds, how to open without wasting a paragraph, how to invent detail that sounds researched, and how to end a review with a verdict somebody could act on.
