Raw materials are extracted from the earth, transformed in factories, and finally delivered to shops or your doorstep through a web of commercial services. Understanding how production is organised, and how commerce connects each stage, is the foundation of the entire 4CM1 course.

In this lesson you will explore the three sectors of production, the four factors that make production possible, and the way specialisation and the division of labour increase efficiency while creating the need for trade. You will see how commerce bridges the gap between producer and consumer, and why no country can thrive without it.
