You cannot count every plant in a meadow or interview every person in a city, so scientists take a sample and use it to draw reliable conclusions about the whole. Done well, fieldwork turns a vague hunch into evidence; done badly, it produces numbers that mislead everyone who trusts them.

In this lesson you will learn how to apply the scientific method to collect reliable data: writing aims and hypotheses, choosing variables, and using repeats.
