The sin of Manasseh for which the LORD sent bands of the Chaldeans, Syrians, Moabites and Ammonites to destroy Judah was "the shedding of innocent blood." Manasseh was a king of Judah who practiced idolatry and even sacrificed his own sons to false gods. He shed the blood of the innocent by sacrificing children in the fire, and also by killing many people who opposed him. As a result, God's judgment fell on Judah and Manasseh, and they were defeated by their enemies.

David obeyed God's instructions, and they pursued the Amalekites. God fought for David and his men, and they were able to recover all that was taken and even captured more spoil from the Amalekites.

God knew that if the Israelites encountered war at this early stage, they might lose heart and return to Egypt. Therefore, He led them by a longer route through the wilderness, where they could learn and grow stronger before facing the challenges ahead.

In Romans, Christians are admonished to put on the Lord Jesus Christ and not to make provision for the flesh. This means that Christians should embrace the teachings of Jesus Christ and let Him be their guide in their everyday life. They should not indulge in sinful desires that are of the flesh, but rather, live a life that is pleasing to God. Making provision for the flesh means giving in to the desires and temptations of the flesh, which can lead to sin and ultimately, separation from God. Therefore, Christians are encouraged to walk in the spirit and not in the flesh, and to follow the example of Jesus Christ in all things.
