Jesus willingly humbled himself and died on the cross for the salvation of humanity, and as a result, God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name. This is because the eunuch was an African, a foreigner, and a eunuch, who was considered an outcast and was prohibited from entering the temple. The parable highlights that the rich man, who had enjoyed all the comforts of life on earth, was now suffering in the afterlife, while the poor man, who had suffered during his life, was now comforted. Thus, the parable teaches that wealth and status in life do not determine one's fate in the afterlife.

The man who delivered the judgement of the Jerusalem Council on the admission of Gentiles into the Church was James. James was one of the leaders of the early Christian Church and the bishop of Jerusalem. In Acts 15, he presided over a meeting of the apostles and elders to discuss the issue of whether Gentile converts to Christianity needed to be circumcised and follow Jewish customs. James ultimately concluded that Gentiles did not need to follow these practices, but instead should abstain from certain things that were considered especially offensive to Jews.
