While other peoples, such as the Ishmaelites, Philistines, and Edomites, were also living in the region at the time, it was the Hebrews who were chosen by God to receive the land as their inheritance. This promise was fulfilled when the Israelites, led by Joshua, conquered the land of Canaan and established the nation of Israel in the Old Testament.

The Centurion whose servant Jesus healed demonstrated humility and faith. He humbly acknowledged his unworthiness and asked Jesus to heal his servant, recognizing Jesus' authority and power to do so. The promise was not linked to Solomon's ability to conquer the Syrian king or write three thousand proverbs, but rather to his commitment to keeping God's laws.

Elijah, on the other hand, built an altar, put his sacrifice on it, and called on the God of Israel to send down fire, which He did. This miracle demonstrated that the God of Israel was the true God and that He alone was to be worshipped in Israel. Therefore, the contest on Mount Carmel was to determine whether God or Baal was to be worshipped in Israel.
