Almost every real citizenship issue is contested: reasonable people looking at the same facts reach different conclusions, because they weigh the costs and benefits differently or because the issue affects them in different ways.
This lesson teaches you how to represent your own opinion honestly while also representing the views of people who disagree with you fairly, how to judge which evidence is genuinely more compelling rather than just more comfortable, and how to state a case without pretending the argument is one-sided. The running example is a proposal for a new pedestrian crossing outside a primary school, a small local decision with real disagreement on every side.
