Resumen
Retrieval asks what a text says. This question asks something harder and worth more: how it was built to make you feel that. Twelve marks in Section A go to AO2, and the objective names two things, linguistic devices and structural ones. Candidates reliably write about the first and forget the second, which quietly halves the available credit before the answer has begun.
This note teaches the analytical move that separates a mid-band answer from a top-band one: not identifying a device but explaining the work it does on a reader. You will learn to zoom from the shape of a whole extract down to a single verb, to write about structure without retelling the plot, and to build the analytical sentence that examiners are actually waiting for.
