Resumen
Everything you rehearsed ends the moment somebody raises a hand. From then on you are in the only part of the assessment that cannot be written in advance, and it is the part the grade criteria describe in most detail. Pass, Merit and Distinction are separated almost entirely by what happens after the prepared speaking stops.
This note is about the live half: taking part in a formal debate or a structured interview, listening to a question properly before answering it, handling the challenge you did not want, saying that you do not know in a way that raises your grade rather than lowering it, and knowing when to add something and when to stop.
